This race dropped back to 135 miles after a longer 225 mile race last week.  There were 8 lofts competing and 177 birds entered.  I sent 10 birds to this race.  I’m feeling disadvantaged sending only 10 birds against those who still have 30 or more.  I’ve felt like to this point my birds have performed very well.  Especially for my first year of racing.  This race was a major disappointment.

I only had 5 of the 10 back in time for knock off, and my best bird this week (988) placed 77th.  The 5 birds that were back in time to clock placed 77, 80, 106, 122, and 126.  I’m really at a loss as to how I went from near the top of the race sheet to the bottom this week.  I guess they have been molting a little and possibly I under-trained this week.

Really looking forward to a better performance next week in the 300 mile race.
