Amazing One Loft Pigeon RaceI sent 7 Pigeons to a new One Loft Race this year.  The Amazing One Loft Race is managed by Dan Hash of Kaysville, UT.  He is new to racing with the Ogden Racing Pigeon Club, but he has raised pigeons for many years.  He purchased a spectacular racing loft from Scott Saunders.  2012 is the first year for ...

Fly For the Fight Race Two

Fly For the FightThe second race in the Fly For the Fight Series was held last Saturday.  This is a fun race.  You don’t send your own birds into this particular race.  You get to sponsor a bird or birds in the race.  Proceeds go to benefit Cancer Research.  The Pigeons are all top notch birds from Don Paltani.  After the race series is complete, you can pay ...

Shasta Classic 150 Mile Race

Shasta Classic One Loft RaceThe first pigeon race of the 2012 Shasta Classic is complete.  This ended up being a very tough day of pigeon racing.  There were 388 birds listed in the early August Inventory.  310 out of the 388 made it to this first race which is for average speed.  Dan Welch did a great job preparing the birds and ...

12th Place WFA 300 Mile Final Race

12th Place WFA 300 Mile Final Race

This was a tough one loft race in which the majority of the birds were lost in training.  Although I would like to have done better but I’m happy with my 42997 bird and a 12th place finish.  There were over 150 very good birds sent to this race.  Not a bad showing for my first one loft race.

Congratulations to the winners and thanks to Dave Lawrence and others who worked hard to put on this race.

I am looking forward ...

Fort Hall Race 09-24-2011

Fort Hall Race 09-24-2011

This race dropped back to 135 miles after a longer 225 mile race last week.  There were 8 lofts competing and 177 birds entered.  I sent 10 birds to this race.  I’m feeling disadvantaged sending only 10 birds against those who still have 30 or more.  I’ve felt like to this point my birds have performed very well.  Especially for my first year of racing.  This race was a major disappointment.

I only had 5 of the 10 back in time ...

Spencer Race 09-16-2011

Spencer Race 09-16-2011

Saturday’s  race from Spencer, ID was 223.335 miles to my loft.  To date this is the longest I have flown any of my pigeons.  I sent 14 birds to the race and there were 9 lofts and 189 pigeons participating.  This was a tough race!  The release was delayed for an hour due to weather concerns.  I waited and waited for the birds to return.  This week, my Wife joined me outside which was nice for her to show some ...

1st Place! WFA One Loft Race

1st Place! WFA One Loft Race

One Loft RaceI was very happy and surprised to see that a bird I sent to the WFA One Loft Race came back 1st place in the final 100 mile trainer (actually 95 miles).  My AU 2011 AA 42999 bird bested the rest of the field by more than 3 minutes and came in as a single drop.

There ...

Idaho Falls Race 09-10-2011

Idaho Falls Race 09-10-2011

The Idaho Falls race was a distance of about 160 miles from my loft.  I shipped all 16 birds hoping that my small team could do well.  I was unable to watch the birds come back from the race this week as I had to be at a soccer game for my daughter.  One of the other racers agreed to pick up my clock and take it in for me.  Thanks Travis!

We did OK in this race with a few ...

Fort Hall Race 09-03-2011

Fort Hall Race 09-03-2011

Our third race is in the books.  135 miles from Fort Hall, Idaho.  My birds didn’t do nearly as well as I had hoped.  I think the training I did last week in the wrong direction of the race course must have thrown the birds off.  They only flew one good training toss all week. The top bird from Ashby Loft came in at 26th place.

The race was ...
